Here is one of the easiest ways to improve yourself, build your confidence, and if you want to begin the journey to become a better man, it doesn't need to take long to get results. One of the easiest things to do is to practice saying "Please" and "Thank you". You can even practice this when you are at a restaurant or at the check out line at your grocery store. Being polite is one of the easiest ways to begin your journey to becoming a better man. And unlike other areas which we'll touch on later it is as an instant improvement.
I always find it incredible when I overhear someone order food or ask for something and there is no please or thank you. The conversation feels empty to me and I mentally put in the please and thank you if it is omitted. I suggest practicing in low-risk settings. You can practice saying please and thank you to your friends and family, or jump right into the outside world. It's about building up the muscle memory to always use these polite words. Always use please if you are asking for something, and always use thank you when you receive something. It doesn't matter if someone is doing his/her job or if someone wentr out of their way; always use please and thank you.
Do your best to practice looking someone in the eye when you say please and thank you. With practice comes mastery. It might be something you think people don't notice, but trust me when I say people notice. I remember fellow classmates in elementary and high school telling me you don't need to say please and thank you to the lunch staff. I knew that was the wrong type of thinking. It is truly that easy, and something anyone can start practicing today if they want to. Go forth, and begin to practice the easiest of manners to develop. Using please and thank you.
Side note: A confident reply to someone thanking you for something you did is to reply with you're welcome.
